Coppertop Groundhog Day Weekend
Location: Coppertop Bar & Restaurant (Beaver Run Resort), Breckenridge, Colorado Dates: January 31 – February 2, 2026
Forget Punxsutawney Phil for a second. In the Colorado high country, we don’t dread six more weeks of winter—we pray for them.
This Saturday, January 31st, Beaver Run Resort kicks off one of the most spirited après-ski parties of the season: the Coppertop Groundhog Day Weekend. Whether you are looking to toast to more powder days or just need a place to unbuckle your boots and grab a drink, the Coppertop patio is the place to be.
Here is why you should ski right into this celebration.
1. The High West Distillery Airstream is Back
The star of the show isn't a groundhog—it's whiskey. The legendary High West Distillery is rolling their vintage Airstream bar right up to the slopes. They will be serving handcrafted whiskey cocktails and tastings all weekend. It is the perfect way to warm up after a long day on Peak 9.
2. Meet "Bucky Beaver"
While Pennsylvania has Phil, Breckenridge has Bucky. The resort’s beloved mascot will be making special appearances to help predict the weather (spoiler: in Breck, the forecast is always "snow"). It’s a fun photo op and a chance to embrace the goofy side of mountain culture.
3. Games, Prizes & Après Vibes
The Coppertop Bar is famous for its massive outdoor deck that sits right at the base of the Beaver Run SuperChair. For this weekend, the energy amps up with:
Giveaways & Swag: Walk away with more than just a buzz.
Patio Games: Challenge your friends while you wait for your next round.
The Ultimate Deck Scene: There is no better place to people-watch and soak up the winter sun (or snow).
4. Cheers to Extended Winter
In most places, Groundhog Day is about waiting for spring. In a ski town, it’s a rally for extended winter. Join hundreds of other skiers and riders raising a glass to the hope that the lifts keep spinning and the snow keeps falling well into April.
