Join Colorado’s Most Scenic Team Race Adventure

August 06, 20251 min read

Imagine this: sunrise over the Rockies, dirt trails beneath your feet, and teammates cheering you on as you push through high mountain passes and hidden valleys. This isn't just a race—it’s the Wild West Relay, and it's back this August for another unforgettable 200-mile journey.

What Is the Wild West Relay?

Spanning from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs, the Wild West Relay is a 200-mile, overnight team race that weaves through some of Colorado and Southern Wyoming’s most breathtaking terrain. Teams of 6 or 12 runners (or brave soloists) take turns navigating the course, with each runner completing multiple legs ranging in difficulty and distance.

From rugged country roads and quiet forest trails to starry night skies and early morning fog, the experience is part race, part adventure, and all heart.

Why It’s More Than Just a Run

Yes, it’s challenging. But ask anyone who’s completed it, and they'll tell you: the Wild West Relay is about connection—between teammates, nature, and the grit within yourself. You’ll sweat. You’ll laugh. You might even cry. But you’ll finish stronger, together.

For many runners, this is an annual tradition that feels like summer camp for grown-ups (with a little more elevation gain). The relay isn’t just a test of endurance. It’s a celebration of community and Colorado’s untamed beauty.
