September in Denver is packed with festivals, art, food, and cultural celebrations that bring the community together. The month kicks off with A Taste of Colorado on September 1 at Civic Center Park. This free, three-day tradition features local food booths, live music stages, arts and crafts, and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Just a few days later, the 36th Annual Friendship Powwow arrives on September 6 at the Denver Art Museum. Visitors can enjoy free general admission along with vibrant cultural performances. Art lovers have even more to look forward to with Denver Art Museum Free Days on September 9 and again on September 15, when the museum opens its doors to everyone. On September 15, the Free Day at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science also offers a chance to explore exhibits without tickets.

Foodies will enjoy Civic Center EATS (Fall) on September 10, 17, and 18, with weekly food truck gatherings in Civic Center Park offering outdoor lunch experiences. The following weekend, September 13–14, Union Station’s Wynkoop Plaza hosts the Handmade in Colorado Expo, showcasing local artists and makers with ceramics, paintings, and one-of-a-kind pieces from across the state.

For those who love to laugh, the High Plains Comedy Festival takes over the Baker Neighborhood from September 18–20. This popular event features both local and national acts performing across multiple venues. Shortly after, downtown Denver transforms for Denver Oktoberfest, happening September 20–22 and again September 27–29. Expect lively German traditions with stein hoisting, keg bowling, pretzels, and plenty of music.

From cultural celebrations to seasonal favorites, September in Denver has something for everyone. Whether you’re sampling local cuisine, exploring art exhibits, shopping handmade goods, or raising a stein at Oktoberfest, this month is a perfect time to experience the city’s vibrant community spirit.
